"While French record
production in the early 60’s remained dominated by the "Yéyé" movement
(a soft style of French rock’n’roll), Polnareff’s catchy melodies were
more in keeping with American hippie groups such as the Mamas and the
Papas. Polnareff’s divergence from mainstream French style was never
more in evidence than on his 1966 hit "Love Me Please Love Me". The
song’s overtly romantic melody and famous piano intro was pure
